Free public transportation in Budapest today!

Due to heavy snow the last hours it has been quite a mess in the public transportation of Budapest. Not all bus lines are running as normal, but in most situations everything is working fine. Still, due to the mess it has been announced that all usage of public transportation in Budapest is free. This means that you can use tram, bus, metro and trolley buses for free all day long on January 14th, 2013.

The free public transportation is also meant to help people use public transportation instead of using their own car. When the snow falls, and especially as much as in the last 12 hours, this often creates a chaos at Budapest roads, and if more people would use public transportation, that might help stop some of the chaos that often arises.

No other information has been given about this on English yet, so share the news in your social networks to let everyone hear the news. The official information about the free public transportation in Budapest (in Hungarian) can be found here.
